Happy place

You need a happy place. Some well you can always draw from for a quick hit of joy. Even if only for a bit. Have some joy on standby.

And as a child of the 1900s I worry this generation just lacks the balls for what might be coming. Inflation spiral like the 70s. Nationalism overtaking democracy. A cold war, or worse, a world war. States carving out the legitimate science and healthcare they don't like and making them illegal. Back ally abortions. Looming civil war in the completely not united USA. So much hate from every direction. Let's not sugarcoat it. The world is in a bad place. And no one is fixing any of it. Not to mention all the regular day to day personal shite one must endure so they can grow old and die.

Everyone will deal with it how they can. The fear, the living under threat, the bottomless doubt and insecurity. The tears.

Find your happy place. You need to. Find that thing that you can count on. The thing that makes you smile and clap with glee no matter how bad life gets. Even if it's silly and no one else gets it. Even if the joy will be fleeting. Find your well of joy. A joy of last resort. Something you know is there when you need it. Don't let the fear and anger and sadness be without end.

I've mentioned many of my own here before, though I doubt they will help others. Because I'm a weirdo. But I'll share anyway. Jeannie singing Dig A Tunnel. Pretty much any Babymetal. The lazy narcotic of video games. The repetitive endorphin drip of photography. Some comfort food. These days it seems to be more of the odd music choices like Sierra Ferrell or Lake Street Dive. Or the one that is so weird I hesitate to mention it - FFXIV dance videos.

Find your happy place. It doesn't need to fix anything. It doesn't need to make sense. It just needs to be the thing that stops the bottomless falling. A brief moment of joy. Have some joy on standby.
