I must say, the Monty Python salmon mousse sketch is one of their best. Though..... this isn't mousse. It's a spread really. But I believe one should always work in a Monty Python sketch where possible.
This makes a great dip or spread, but I like it best on toasted bagels. Also great on crackers. The garnish is important, so try to sprinkle on either capers, dill, lemon zest or red onion. Or a combination.
Important - Don't use lox, gravlax or other cured or cold smoked salmon here. Use the hot smoked kind for this.
I like this smooth, but if you want a more chunky salmon sort of thing, mix in the salmon last and just don't mix as much.
Instructions
Put everything other than garnish in a bowl. Mix until smooth with a fork. Easy as that.

2 ounces sour cream
4 ounces whipped cream cheese
1/2 lemon, juiced save zest for garnish
1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill, save fronds for garnish
1 tablespoon chopped red onion
1-2 teaspoons horseradish or more to taste
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped capers
